Philip Anthony Cordova, age 77, of Fort Garland, CO, went to be with our Lord on March 2, 2025. Born on October 14, 1947, Philip was a proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a deeply devoted husband.
Philip was a two-time baseball state champion, and his love for the sport carried throughout his life. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, completing four tours of duty, a testament to his dedication and bravery. His experiences in the military shaped him into a man of great strength, integrity, and resilience.
Beyond his service and athletic achievements, Philip found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family. His passion for working in the yard and going on bike rides brought him peace and contentment. Philip had a unique way of spreading positivity wherever he went, and his amazing sense of humor was infectious. He was known for always staying positive, offering encouragement, and reminding the youth around him to pursue their dreams and goals.
Philip was especially proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He often spoke with great pride about his great-grandchildren, Jericho and Madelyn. His love for his wife, Vicky, was unwavering, and he often expressed how much he appreciated all that she did for him. He had a special way of making everyone feel loved, often giving them nicknames, whether they knew it or not.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Vicky Cordova; his children, Philip Cordova, Leslie (Luis) Corona, and Luke (Annette) Cordova; his grandchildren, Brianna, Abby (Angelo), Jessamy, Zachariah, Gabriel, Seth, and PJ; his great-grandchildren, Jericho and Madelyn; his sister, Juanita Borrego; his brother, Carmel (Isabel) Cordova; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmel and Bertha Cordova; his brothers, Larry, Christopher, and Eleuto; and his sister, Barbara.
A funeral service will be held on March 29, 2025, at Santa Maria De La Paz, 11 College Ave., Santa Fe, NM 87508, at 9:30 AM. A celebration of Philip’s life along with military honors will be held at a later date in Fort Garland, CO.
