Phillip Helario “Fish” Reyna, age 66, passed away at his home at Taos Pueblo, on September 11, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Tony Reyna of Taos Pueblo and Annie Cata Reyna of Okay Owingeh Pueblo, sister, Marie A. Reyna of Taos Pueblo, and niece, Marlene Platero. He is survived by his brother John Anthony Reyna, of Pecos, NM and sister, Diane Reyna, of Taos Pueblo. He is survived by hisnieces, Carley Aspen Concha of Arroyo Seco, and Aneva Concha of El Prado, NM. He was grand uncle to Dusk Antonio Rey Concha, Gustavo Rael, Kandence Rael, Tristan Anthony Concha Montoya, and Yasmin Alicia Concha Miera. He is survived and loved by many relatives, and friends from Taos and Okay Owingeh Pueblos. Phillip will be missed by many in the Taos Valley and in different parts of the country.
His relatives and close friends knew him as a caring, thoughtful, respectful, kind, gracious, and generous man. He was a talented designer and meticulous craftsman who built his home at Taos Pueblo. He worked with his father managing Tony Reyna’s Indian Arts and Crafts for over 20 years. He was highly knowledgeable in the area of contemporary and traditional native arts and crafts. Previous to his work at the shop, he worked with Tony Issacs of Indian House Records as a sound engineer. He had a high appreciation for music and was an aspiring percussionist. He was also known to love and enjoy good food.
A memorial gathering will take place at 10:30 am, on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Taos Pueblo Community Center east of the Taos Pueblo Day School.
Donations can be made to the Oo Oo Nah Children’s Art Center at Taos Pueblo or simply pass on a kindness in his memory.
