PHILLIP WAYNE WALRAVEN
Of Santa Fe passed away on Sept 13th 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Irene Walraven, his wife of 42 years, Anne and his daughter Marian Manzanaras.
Wayne was born on January 4th 1930 and grew up in Albuquerque. He went on to serve in the Army in Sapporo, Japan and was discharged in 1953. Wayne and Anne made their home in Santa Fe, and he worked for IBM for 35 years. Wayne had many hobbies and interests. He loved music and was an assistant organist for First Baptist church for many years. He loved being outside (especially in the mountains) hiking, fishing or camping and enjoyed gardening and animals and tinkering with cars and anything mechanical. He enjoyed building his own house which became a lifetime hobby. He became a private pilot and loved flying and participating with the experimental aircraft association. Most of all, he loved his family and was a devoted son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He instilled many of his values with those he loved and shared a lively sense of humor and genuine humility with all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Rebecca Foe, David Walraven and son-in-law Peter Manzanaras, brother Les Walraven and sister Sue Chandler Standerfer, grandchildren Rachael and Chris Foe, Abigail and Stephanie Walraven and Eleanor and Jonathon Manzanaras.
A memorial service is planned for October 20th, 2pm at Sunset Gardens in Albuquerque.
