PHOEBE HARPER COTTAM 11/15/1931 – 8/18/2017 Spent her early childhood years in Santa Fe and then moved to Taos with parents Rubye Caton and John Malcolm Harper who started the Ford Lincoln Motor Dealership on Taos Plaza. Phoebe attended Taos High School where she met her husband Decker Brooke Cottam and later married on 8/18/1951. Phoebe is preceeded in death by her parents, her husband Brooke, Son Malcolm Terrance Cottam, Sister Shelly Mitchell and nephew Hugh Harper Mitchell. Phoebe is survived by her three sons, John Brooke Cottam, Jeffrey Harper Cottam, Timothy Louis Cottam, Daughter-in-laws Barbara A. Cottam and Barbara L. Cottam, 8 grandchildren, John Ryan, Lyndsay, Garrett, Bill, Tucker and Taylor Cottam, Ashley and Decker Cordes, great-grand Daughter, Lauren Cottam, nieces Mary Elizabeth Hughes and Mimi Charles Mitchell, Deborah Sherman and Paula Sue Chavez, nephews, Matt Mitchell and Miguel Sherman, sister, Heidi Brandenburg, sons, Robert Fairchild, John Harper and Adam Charles Brandenburg. Phoebe was a member of St. James Episcopal church, served on the Holy Cross Hospital Board and a member of the Taos Garden Club. Phoebe was passionate about gardening, cooking, art, horses, skiing, camping and fishing. Phoebe was a very caring lady who spent most of her life making sure that her family and friends were happy and well taken care of. She was the most wonderful mother and grandmother not only to her own family, but to all the children she encountered. Phoebe loved everyone and all of nature. She was loved by all. Phoebe will be truly missed by her family and friends. A memorial was held on November 25, 2017 at St. James Episcopal Church in Taos. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. James Episcopal Church or Stray Hearts-Taos Animal Shelter.
