Margaret was born on February 8, 1946, to Phil and Didia Gonzales. Was Married to Edwin Ernest Durr for 47 long and wonderful years. She was born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Margret passed away April 18, 2025 tranquilly in her sleep at home. However, in Margret’s life she was a devoted aunt, wife, mother, and most of all a grandmother.

Margret met the love of her love while attending Saint Michael’s college of Santa Fe in the mid 60’s and were inseparable ever since, even when he went to the US Navy. Upon returning from deployment Margret moved with Ernie to Chicago and Virginia to finish out his stent in the Navy and then returned home to Santa Fe where she became a teacher in Santa Fe Public Schools. She furthered her education and earned her master’s degree in education. She then had two sons who she adored. Then left teaching and started working at Durr’s Office Machines running the day to day operations . She spent most of her life working side by side with Ernie in the family business. Then furthered her education in arts and humanities with painting ,woodcarving and beading. Then became a part of the American Legion auxiliary as a member where she sat in the secretary spot for the majority of her membership. Margret was always caring and able to make friends anywhere she went thus earning the nickname Mama D because she acted like a mother to people, she came across. Margaret is proceeded in death by her father Phil Gonzales and mother Didia Gonzales, husband Ernie Durr, brother-in law and sister -in law Joe and Irene Durr. She is survived by brothers Edward Gonzales and James Gonzales and sons Jarad Durr (Marina McCartney) and Patrick Durr (Victoria Durr) and her granddaughter Alyssa Durr and two great grandsons, many nephews and nieces, and extended family and friends, as well as adopted Navy family and children, as well as his beloved puppy Oso.
