Procopio “Props” Visarraga, 91, lifelong resident of Santa Fe, NM passed away peacefully in his home on April 17, 2021. He was born on November 01, 1929 to Ramona and Procopio Visarraga. He is preceded in death by his parents; Procopio and Ramona Visarraga and brothers.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years; Martha Duran-Visarraga, daughters; Cathy Trujillo (Robert), Luanna Lury (Rick), Linda Visarraga-Gonzales (Marty),Bernice Salinas, Priscilla Salazar (Willie) and Cecilia Barrera, son; Michael Duran (Roxanne) and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Props enlisted in the Army at the age of 17 and proudly served his country for 4 years. He was a longtime self-employed roofer. He loved his career and would lend his talents of construction to anyone who needed his help. He was a very talented musician who played the saxophone, trumpet and guitar among many other instruments. His love for music shined through while playing Mariachi’s at weddings, graduations, anniversary parties or at Maria’s restaurant with his fellow musicians, Mariachi Alacran. Also a very talented singer, he enjoyed singing to people and putting a smile on their face.
He enjoyed many years of his life spending time with his wonderful friends at the casino and racetrack. He also loved spending time with his family boating on the lake, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle.
Props was a humble, loving, caring and spiritual man. He was very humorous and always had a smile on his face. He always made people feel special and his kind personality will be missed by many. He had a way of lighting up a room with his full of life spirit. He always had a joke to tell. The family asks that you keep your fond memories of him close to your heart.
The family would like to especially thank the staff at the Christus St. Vincent Cancer Treatment Center for always being so kind and caring to Props. Steve Duran for being a devoted brother in law and caring for Props for over 5 years, Ambercare Hospice, and special caregivers Manuela, Lluvia, Benjamin and Mike.
A Rosary will be recited on Friday, April 30th, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at Santa Maria de La Paz Catholic Community located at 11 College Ave, Santa Fe, NM followed by a Mass Celebration at 10:00 a.m.
Honors will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Tuesday, May 04, 2021 at 3:00 p.m.
