RACHEL ROMERO, 89, beloved mother, grandmother and great-mother, entered into eternal rest on Thursday November 8, 2012. Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Demosthenes Romero, her father Aaron Sena, her mother, Adelaida Martinez Sena, her beloved grandson, Andrew Martinez, her brothers and sister, Roberto, Felimon, and Daniel Sena and Elasia Maes. Rachel was born in Rodarte, NM and lived most of her life in Peñasco. During the last ten years of her life, each of her six children was blessed to have her live with them. She was the matriarch of the family and her whole life was dedicated to them. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest source of joy. She was a great resource to her daughters and daughters-in-law on how to make traditional Spanish dishes. Her delicious flour tortillas and bread were enjoyed by family and friends. She instilled in her family the values of her faith, culture and the importance of family. She will be dearly missed. Rachel is survived by her six children: JoAnne Gonzales and husband Richard, Cecilia Romero-Torres and husband Andy, Catherine Romero-Martinez, J.D. Romero and wife Anna, Michael Romero and wife Gay, Anthony Romero, thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Rosary was recited on November 11, 2012. Funeral Mass was held on November 12, 2012. Both services were held at San Antonio de Padua Church with interment following at the Santa Barbara Cemetery. Pall bears are Robert Gonzales, Javier Torres, Robert Pacheco, Christopher Romero, Robert Trujillo, and A.J. Romero.
