Ramon N. Garcia was born in Pojoaque, NM to Elizario Sr. and Estefanita Garcia.  He was a 1954 graduate of Pojoaque Valley High School where he served as President of the Student Council, officer in the Future Farmers of America, and in the Letterman Club as a member of both the basketball and baseball teams.

After graduating from high school, Ramon worked for the Santa Fe County Treasurer’s office and Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory prior to being drafted in the United States Army where he served overseas in Germany as a Staff Sargent. After his discharge from the Army, he returned to work at the Laboratory in Los Alamos as an Administrative Staff Member in WX-3 at S-Site until his retirement in 1991 from the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

On November 8, 1958, Ramon married Marvine Gallegos, his high school sweetheart. Together they raised three children in Los Alamos and remained married for 64 years.  In their retirement years, Ramon and Marvine enjoyed traveling taking many cruises, traveling extensively throughout the United States, and foreign countries including Mexico, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Greece, Egypt, and the Holy Land.  Ramon also enjoyed volunteering at the Los Alamos Visitor Center and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  In October of 2011, Ramon and Marvine received an award from the Archdiocese of Santa Fe in recognition of their service to their local parish.

He is preceded in death by his parents Elizario Sr. and Estefanita Garcia, siblings: Guadalupe, Laura, Norma Jean Garcia, Susie (Secundino) Quintana, Elizario Jr. (Eva) Garcia, Pita (Joe) Sanchez, Flora (Ross) Martinez; in-laws Joe G. Montoya, Dorothy Garcia, Nicasio and Bessie Gallegos, Laura Lujan (Donaciano), Eva Boettcher, Vera Martinez (Henry), Lillian Salazar (Phil) and Roy Gallegos.

Ramon is survived by his wife, Marvine Garcia. His sons Ray A. Garcia (Darlene), J. Patrick Garcia (Teresa), and daughter Anna Garcia Hoffman (Daniel).  Siblings: Robert Garcia (Lucy), Joe O. Garcia (Debbie), Ben Garcia (Charlotte), Gloria Montoya, and Annabelle Brazeal (Ron); in-laws Nick Gallegos (Gloria) and Gordon Boettcher.  Grandchildren: Rebecca, Ray, Joseph, Benjamin, and Thomas Garcia; Michelle Hoffman and Marissa Bryce (Austin); Patrick M. Garcia (Kayla), Nicole Barsic (Anthony), Simone Peck, Monique Landry (Corey), and Cosette Mustafa (Hussain).  Great-grandchildren: Noah, Vincent, and McKaela Garcia; Alina and Alice Barsic, Amani Mustafa, and Palmer Landry.  Ramon is also survived by many nephews, nieces and cousins as well as good friends whom he cherished, calling and visiting them throughout the years.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Rivera Family Kiva Chapel of Light from 5:30–7:00pm.  Rosary will be on Monday, January 23, 10:00am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 3700 Canyon Road, Los Alamos, NM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am.  Interment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on January 23, at 2:30pm. Pallbearers are Ray A., J. Patrick, Patrick M., Joseph, Benjamin, and Thomas Garcia; Daniel Hoffman, Anthony Barsic, and Austin Bryce.
