Ramon Roybal

August 11, 1938 — May 13, 2024

Ramon M. Roybal, age 85, a lifelong resident of Santa Fe, was called to his heavenly father at home surrounded by his family on May 13, 2024.  He was born on August 11, 1938 to Antonio and Atalina Roybal in Santa Fe.  He graduated from Santa Fe High School, class of 1958.  He was honorably discharged from the US Marine Corp. and had a distinguished 36-year career with the US Postal Service.  He was married to Maria A. Roybal for 42 years.  He enjoyed spending time watching his grandchildren participate in various sports, working on projects at home, reading, and actively practicing his Catholic faith as a lifelong parishioner of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. 

He is preceded in death by his father and mother; sisters Socorro Chavez and Tonita Roybal; brothers Max and Jerry Roybal; daughters Alicia Roybal and Annette Prada; and son Patrick Roybal.   

He is survived by 5 daughters: Rosemary Trujillo, Bernadette Roybal-Lucero (Albert), Cecilia Roybal, Sophia Roybal-Cruz (Ron) and Mary Roybal; 12 grandchildren: Rick Ortega, Isaac Ortega, Andre Prada (Delilah); Jerome Roybal; Valerie Johnson (Brian), Michael Prada Jr., Derrick Roybal (Angelica), Camille Ortega, Kathleen Roybal (Pablo), Albert Prada (Candace), Alicia Gonzales (Daniel), Ramon Roybal; 17 great grandchildren: Audriana, Neomiah, Brooke, Aubri, Emilo, Andres, Ellena, Samuel, Mia, Consuelo, Santana, Quiana, Isaac Jr, Daijia, Cheyenne, Mackenzie, and Kai; and 1 great great grandchild: Nevaeh 

Ramon was lovingly supported by many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends. 

A rosary will be held at Rivera Funeral Home in Santa Fe on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 6:00 pm.  Funeral mass will be held at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 10:30 am with burial immediately following at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 pm. 

Jerome Roybal, Michael Prada Jr., Derrick Roybal, Albert Prada, Ramon Roybal, Samuel Flores, Mike Prada Sr. and Ron Cruz will serve as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Emilio Roybal, Andres Roybal, and Neomiah Roybal.
