Raymond Lopez, born February 7, 1932, in Rowe, New Mexico, closed his beautiful blue eyes for the last time here on Earth, and opened them in Heaven for the first time on November 10th, 2024, at the age of 92 and 3/4 years old.
Raymond is survived by his younger sister Linda Lury, brother-in-law Charles Lury, son Robert Lopez, wife Gloria, son Richard Lopez, wife Pauline, daughter Robin Ortiz, daughter Rosemary Lopez, 18 grandchildren, their 11 spouses, 34 great grandchildren and their 5 spouses, 4 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. All of whom will miss their loved one so deeply.
As the hearts of the ones who remain Earthside grieve such an immense loss, we also rejoice for the precious Heavenly reunion that has taken place. Raymond was welcomed by his devoted wife of 70+ years, Rosina, their two children who passed on before them, son Rudy Lopez and his sons Robert Montoya and Zachery Lopez: daughter Ruth Lujan and son in law, Alfred. Also waiting for their son and brother were his mother and father Luciano and Arabella Lopez, and his brothers, Tino Lopez and Gilbert Lopez. Also waiting for him were his in-laws Max and Lola Baca, his brother in laws Gilbert Baca and Paul Baca, Paul’s wife Rosina, Raymond’s sister-in-law Stella Valdez, husband Benny Valdez. May they all enjoy being together again as we continue to live in hopes of keeping each and every one of their memories alive.
Raymond was greatly known and shared his knowledge of many hobbies such as hunting, fishing, walking, gardening, and being a handyman, not to mention countless others, with everyone. For those of us blessed with memories of the life stories he was always so eager to share; may we carry the lessons he taught us in our hearts forevermore.
Raymond leaves behind the legacy of a true hero; he served others with every breath God granted him; not only as a Marine, but also a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Raymond lived by example and showed us all the definition of humility, grace, and ultimately, love.
Raymond’s mission in life was to love the family he created, fiercely. It is evident to see he accomplished that in countless ways if you were blessed to witness the love be returned so greatly in his last years of life. Yvonne Chavez, the family sends their immense gratitude for the love and care you gave to Raymond in his final 5 years; you are loved so deeply. To the family members who made his last year the most memorable, Aunty Linda, April, Pauline, Richard, Kelvin, Elizabeth, Julio, Amanda, Gene, Josiah, Sophia, Kaiden and Abel, Grandpa loved you with every breath in his lungs and transitioned surrounded peacefully with the love you all gave. Thank you for being so supportive and assisting in giving him the sendoff he so adamantly requested.
Though Raymond has made his final journey to his eternal home; his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. How blessed we were to witness such a triumphant life and to be graced with such a humble love as his.
