Our beloved father, Raymond “Brian" Montoya, a lifelong resident of Ohkay Owingeh/Yunge, passed away unexpectedly April 29, 2022.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ramon and Emily Montoya, his sister Arlene “Nina" Montoya, his beloved uncle Jose “Remijo” Chiwiwi and aunt Ciprianita Chiwiwi, aunt and uncle Mary/ Raymond Torres, aunt Inez Montoya of Albuquerque NM, uncle Johnny Aguino, brother in laws Lenny Martinez and Arlo Martinez Jr. Brian was known well by the community, a friend to all.
He had a big heart and was willing to help anyone out. When he wasn’t cruising the Pueblo, he was home working on dream catchers and raddles. He was a successful carpenter for the majority of his life. Brian also enjoyed spending time with his lifelong friend, Norman Deherrera; whether it was going to the farmers market or going for a drive to listen to their favorite music. He was dearly loved by his grandchildren Kayliani, Jade Ethan and Lakai.
He is survived by his daughters Felicia Montoya (Kyle), Vanessa Montoya (Steven), Melissa Montoya (Fabian). Grandchildren Kayliani Garcia, Jade Aquino, Ethan Montoya, Lakai Krantz. Siblings Leonard Montoya, Rose Montoya, Fatima Martinez (Paz), many close cousins nephews, nieces and friends.
A viewing will be held Sunday May 1, 2022 at 6:00PM at Brian's residence, in Ohkay Owingeh, with the Rosary immediately to follow. Mass and burial are scheduled for Monday, May 2, 2022 9:00AM at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Serving as pallbearers Patrick “Jay" Montoya, Steven Lockwood, Matthew “Matt" Quintana, Ryne Martinez, Arlo David Martinez, Fabian Atencio, Kyle Krantz, and Ian Martinez. Honorary pallbearers Norman Deherrera, Kayliani Garcia, Jade Aquino, Ethan Montoya, and Lakai Krantz
