Raymond V. Wheeler age 72 of Chamita died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday March 28 in Santa Fe, NM. after a lengthy illness. He was born on June 3, 1937 in Leadville, CO. to the late Sam and Mary Wheeler. He enjoyed the beautiful outdoors including fishing & hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents and also sisters; Darlene Lucero, Velma Gallegos and Judy La Varrio, brother Isaac Montoya, in-laws Alberto and Rosita De Herrera and grandmother Josefita Herrera. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Lydia, Sons; Raymond Wheeler and wife Carol of Espanola, Anthony Wheeler and wife Debra of Chamita, Rocky Wheeler of Santa Fe, Johnny Wheeler and wife Patty of Cuarteles and Danny Wheeler and wife Andrea of Nambe, daughter Theresa Herrera and husband Gilbert of Chamita, grandchildren; Santiago Martinez and wife Anna, Brandon and Desiree Wheeler, Jacqueline Wheeler, Kenneth Wheeler, Meagan and Victoria Wheeler, Leroy Jaramillo, Jessica DeVargas and husband Jason, Nadine Chavez and husband Rick, Great-grandchildren; Joslyn and Santos Martinez, Jimmy James, Diego and Camila Wheeler, Alicia and Lucas Archibeque, Kayla and Camila DeVargas, sisters Rita Carrasco and husband Lee of Pueblo, CO. and Betty Rose Mondragon and husband Rudy of Cuba, NM., brothers Johnny Wheeler of Albuquerque and Tony Wheeler and wife Alice of Espanola, favorite aunt Marcy Sutherburg of Leadville, CO., favorite cousin Robert Duarte and wife Dolly of Louisiana., Goddaughters Terry Brown and husband Allen of Denver, CO., and Debra Valerie Wheeler of Espanola, Godson Patrick Chavez of Espanola, Lawrence Lopez of Alb., nieces Mary Lopez and husband Rick, Jennifer Carassco and Becky Ortega, nephews Lee Carassco, Jr., and Kenneth Carassco and Michael Ulibarri, sisters and brothers in-law; Irene Rodriguez and companion Eddie, Romolo De Hererra and wife Rose, David De Herrera and wife Marie, Linda Chavez and husband Paul, Pete De Herrera and wife Roberta, Cordy Herrera and husband Donald, Joanna De Aguero and husband Archie and June Galvon and companion Gilbert. A public visitation will be held beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday March 30th at Rivera Family Funeral Home in Espanola with recitation of the rosary starting at 7:oo p.m. A second rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. also in the mortuary chapel. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday April 1st at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at San Juan with Fr. Terry Brennan officiating with interment to follow at The Chamita Cemetery.
