Rebecca T. Alvarez, 71 of Santa Fe passed away peacefully on June 27, 2016 surrounded by her daughters. Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents Jerry and Mary Aranda. She is survived by her daughters Monica Alvarez (Frankie Lucero), Elaine Hughes (Darrell), and Denise Villanueva (Andy). Grandchildren: Shanae Roybal, Sarah Roybal, Jacob Roybal, Heather Toombs, Amanda Toombs (Daniel Elliott), Troy Alvarez (Sarah Leal), Adam Villanueva and Emily Villanueva. Great Grandchildren Ayla Leal and Austin Elliott; Siblings Geraldine Hicks (Rick), Phillip Aranda (Cecilia), Olivia Vigil (Ernie), Perla Aranda, Deloisa Aranda-Trujillo (Mike), and Christina Martinez (Paul) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, close relatives and close friends. Rebecca was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many.
Mom was a volunteer with Civitan Club and American Cancer Society. She was a devoted Catholic and active member of the San Isidro Parish. She was a 1962 Graduate of the Loretto Academy. She shared her love of music and dancing with everyone. She loved sharing rich traditions of Santa Fe with her grandchildren and family. Mom loved family gatherings and continued family traditions. She loved the outdoors, fishing, gardening and even pulling weeds on her last days. Mom loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all of her heart. Mom will be greatly missed. Serving as pallbearers will be Geraldine Hicks, Phillip Aranda, Olivia Vigil, Perla Aranda, Deloisa Aranda-Trujillo and Christina Martinez.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Hicks, Cecilia Aranda, Ernie Vigil, Rudy Gonzales, Mike Trujillo, and Paul Martinez.
A Rosary will be recited Thursday at 12:00pm at the San Isidro Parish Center with a Mass to follow at 1:00pm and a burial at Rosario Cemetery.
