Albert and Rebecca (Becky) Lucero
Becky passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on May 18th after a prolonged battle with Dementia and Alzheimer's, followed by Albert just 6 days later on the morning of May 23rd from a broken heart. They were married on October 20, 1960 (63 years). Both 84 years of age, Becky was born in Manzano, NM on April 17, 1940, and Albert was born in La Joya (Pecos), NM on May 14, 1940. Both were preceded in death by their youngest son David A. Lucero (9/23/18) and survived by their loving sons, Steve A. and Ron A. Lucero.
Becky was also preceded in death by her parents, Timoteo and Antonia Lerma, brothers Dr. Xavier Abey, Joe (Nick) and wife Cecilia, Abel and wife Lydia, Andy and wife Josie, Issac, and many other relatives. She is survived by sister Lucy Teaney, brother Wilfred and wife Flora, Johnny and wife Diana, and sister in-law Bess.
Albert was also preceded in death by his parents, Amador and Simonita Lucero, and many other relatives. He is survived by brother Ernest (Ernie) and wife Donna, and sister Marcella and husband Armando (Mandy) Montoya.
Becky worked in telecommunications from Mountain Bell to Quest where she retired from the engineering department in Los Alamos. Albert retired from NM State government in Accounting and Finance where he retired from the NM General Services Department (GSD), Administrative Services Division (ASD) as a Financial Specialist Supervisor. Albert' also worked for the NM Taxation and Revenue Department, NM Museums, and the NM Game and Fish.
They both worked together in private homes in Santa Fe with Albert tending bar and Becky tending to the food. Later they started "Albert's Bartending Service" where they employed many relatives and friends. After retiring from state government, Albert held the Santa Fe Convention Center Concession Contract for a time.
Both lifelong members of St. Anne Parish, they were always together and cherished time with family and friends. They epitomized the meaning of unconditional love, respect, and kindness. They loved and were proud of their three sons and delighted in their achievements.
Visitation will begin on Sunday, June 9th from 5-7 PM at Rivera Family Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 10th with visitation at 8:30 AM, rosary at 9 AM, and Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM·at St. Anne Church. Interment will follow at Rosario Cemetery with a luncheon reception at St. Anne's Parish Hall afterward.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rivera Family Funeral Home.
They loved the outdoors, traveled abroad, and hosted many parties. They excelled in their careers, invested wisely, and lived comfortably.
