Remigio D. Martinez 89, a resident of Chimayo NM went to be with our Lord on 11/24/2020 after a brief illness. Remigio was preceded in death by his parents Pablo and Magdalena Martinez, Sister Carolina, brother Pablo Noe, Uncle Aniceto, wife Erlinda (Archuleta) Martinez, and sons Eddie and David (Anthony) Martinez.
Remigio is survived by his wife Elizaida (Ellie), Sister Nancy Martinez, brother Reynaldo (Lolo; and sister in laws Pauline and Julia; daughter in law Debra, grandchildren Jenni (Paul), Juan (Isabel), and Magdalena; great-grandchildren Lucas, Damian, Monique, and Hope. Step-Children Diane (Fred), Tony (Mary), and Debbie (John); and god children Lorenzo, Pablo, and Magdalena; in addition to many cousins, nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren and friends.
Remigio will be remembered as a hard-working man, he served in the Navy from 1951-1955 during the Korean War and shortly thereafter went to work for Los Alamos National Laboratory as a security guard for over 30 years, he was very proud that in all that time he missed only one day of work in his life. When Remigio was not at work he enjoyed working on his land, he tended to many acres of alfalfa and over 70 apple trees, he spent morning and night irrigating and cultivating his gardens. He was a collector of odds and ends, and knew many times down to the amount of nuts and screws he held on to.
The family would like to extend our appreciation to the Dr’s, staff, and especially the nurses at the Espanola Hospital, thank you for caring for our grandfather during his illness and ensuring his last requests were met when the family could not. Our grandfather will be missed, he was loved and cared for by many and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his god children and great-grandchildren.
