Richard Chavez

Richard G. Chavez 91, was born on March 26, 1931 in Gallup NM. He passed away peacefully at the Santa Fe Care Center on April 20, 2022.

Richard is proceeded in death by his wife Viola Chavez of Hernandez, New Mexico. His Father, Cayetano Chavez, Mother Adela Gonzales-Chavez of Gallup New Mexico, sisters Arsenia Montoya, Priscalla Ramirez of Gallup New Mexico and brothers Buddy Chavez, Cayetano Chavez Jr. of Gallup New Mexico and Adolfo Chavez of Las Vegas, Nevada and many other friends and family.

Richard survived by his daughters Adela D Chavez of Hernandez, New Mexico and Donna Waconda of Laguna Pueblo, New Mexico. Sister Dorthey Chavez of Gallup New Mexico and other numerous family and friends.

Richard served in the United States Army and in the National Guard. He was a Cab Driver in Gallup New Mexico. He also sold produce all around New Mexico and Arizona.

Richard Loved to talk to family and friends every chance he got. He loved to watch Western and Spanish movies. He loved to sit and listen to Spanish Music and spend time with his daughter Adela Chavez. He loved his cats and dog who were always by his side.

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a beloved father and friend. Serving as Pallbearers are: Jose Perez, Jason Lewis, Robert Montoya, Soupy Ramirez, Patrick Anzaldua and Alex Forkner.

Rosary will be recited at the Rivera Family Funeral Home Chapel in Espanola, NM on June 02, 2022 at 11:00 am. Internment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetary at 1:30pm.

The family has entrusted Rivera Funeral Home, Espanola with the care of their loved one.
