Richard “Pops” Gonzales

Richard “Pops” Gonzales of Dixon NM passed away peacefully on November 30, 2021.
Richard was born on October 24, 1946 To Eliseo Gonzales and Casimira Martin. He is preceded in death by his father Eliseo Gonzales, mother, Casimira Martin, brothers Johnny and Ernesto Gonzales, sister Christina Romero, Aunt Libby Barela, Beatrice Archuleta, Uncles Orlando and Benjamin Barela, Margarito Gonzales and Grandmother Eduvijen Barlea.
He is survived by his beautiful wife Evangeline Gonzales, sons Rick (Lisandra), Gabe (Desarey) and Adrian (Antionette) Gonzales, grandsons Adrian II (Julie), Alexander, Eric Cortez and Andrea Cortez (Jose Talache), great grandsons A.J and Eduardo Talache, great granddaughter Maria Talache, his two brothers Robert (Dianna) Martin and Paul (Annabelle) Gonzales, Bennie Suazo and Lydia Salazar were like sisters to him, Antonio Garcia who was like a son to him and Rebecca Valdez, his wonderful nurse.
Richard worked as a General Contractor for many years, owning his own business, RG & Sons Construction. He was well known for specializing in concrete/cement work. He was a mentor to many and will be missed by those who crossed his path. He was especially proud of his two grandsons which had recently learned the trade and seem to be following in his footsteps.
Richard was known for his witty humor and always had a quick response. He had lots of friends and was known as “Pop” to many.
Richard married Evangeline Blanco and together had 3 sons. He was a very “family” oriented man and a hard worker, an excellent provider, proud father and grandfather. He believed in the everlasting life and had accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior.
Pallbearers are Adrian Gonzales II, Alexander Gonzales, Antonio Garcia, Eric Cortez, Kelvin Lopez, Herman Romero and Bruce Gonzales.
Honorary Pallbearers are Solomon Sanchez, Pablo Flores, Henry Trujillo, Larry Sanchez, Norbert Blanco, Roger Blanco, Johnny Sanchez, Mark Naeher, Jose Talache, Espanola Transit, LA Transit, Parker Construction, Robert Medina and Sons Concrete, Fedencio Blanco and all his Nieces and Nephews.
Service will be on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021 at 7:00pm at Victory Faith Church, JD Miera and Pablo Flores Officiating. Burial will be Monday, Dec. 13, 2021 at 11:00am in Dixon, Solomon Sanchez officiating at the Apostolic Cemetery in Apodaca, NM.
The family of Richard Gonzales has entrusted the gentle care of their loved one to Rivera Family Funeral Home of Espanola.
