Richard Greaves

May 17, 1956 — June 2, 2021

Richard "Richie" Spencer Greaves of Vallecitos, New Mexico, passed from this life on June 2, 2021 following a brief illness.  Son of the late Edward and Elizabeth "Betty" Russo Greaves on May 17,1956, Richie lived in Connecticut until his retirement in 2018, when Richie moved to his "little slice of heaven" in Vallecitos.

Richie is survived by his brothers Ted (Rosanne) Tine of Placida, Florida and Noel (June) Greaves of Meriden, CT, aunt/Godmother Helen Sutkowski of Portland, CT, aunt Margaret “Sissy” (Greaves) Milliott of Middletown, CT as well as numerous cousins.  Richie was well loved by his family and friends from Connecticut to New Mexico.

A graduate of Portland High School class of 1974, Richie worked for Electric Boat in Groton, CT, the Connecticut Laborers Union, worked as a powder coater at Essex Motor Sports and retired from Smith & Wesson Gun Manufacturer in Essex, CT.  Richie was a connoisseur of food and loved sharing a good meal with family and friends.  Richie also had several hobbies including rock/gem collecting, an avid firearms enthusiast, and ardent motorcycle rider and collector, and a well-known herbalist.  Richie shared his loveable self by portraying Santa Claus for the Espanola Fire Department/community center for the past 2 Christmas celebrations for the local residents.

The Tine/Greaves family would like to thank the medical and nursing staff of the Presbyterian Hospital Albuquerque, NM for their compassionate care in Richie's final days.In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Richie's memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.Funeral services will be held in Vallecitos and Connecticut at a date to be determined.
