JONES, Robert N. – Robert (aka Bob, Bobo, Deacon) passed away on June 16, 2019. Robert was born on August 28. 1949 in Alamogordo, NM to Weems and Jewel Jones. The family moved from Albuquerque to Los Alamos in 1960. Robert graduated from Los Alamos High School where he was an accomplished athlete, playing football, basketball and baseball. He was a member of the LAHS state champion football team his senior year and received the “Athlete of the Year” Award that same year. Robert graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with an industrial education degree and pursued teaching and coaching before returning to Los Alamos in 1976 to work at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He was a notable design draftsman at the lab for over 30 years. Robert had a passion for horse racing and sports where he made many great friendships at the racetrack and athletic events. He played fast pitch softball in the 70’s and 80’s and enjoyed following college sports. He loved dogs and children and they always attracted to his fun-loving attention and charm. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law Drew Fuller.  He is survived by his children Jonathan of Phoenix, AZ and daughter Jennifer of Albuquerque; brother and sister-in-law, Spike and Donna Jones of Los Alamos; sister, Judy Fuller of Albuquerque; nephew Cale Jones (Dana) of Los Alamos; niece, Sarah Johnson (Shane) of Albuquerque; great-nephew and niece, Liam and Avery Jones.  Bobo will be dearly missed by all who had the honor and pleasure of him touching their lives. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be at a later date.
