Richard Osness

Richard (Dick) Osness, 81, of Santa Fe, NM passed away July 6th, 2022. Richard, son of William and Blanche Osness, is survived by his sister Vicki Osness of Huntley, IL, son Christopher (Kelly) of Gunnison, CO and daughter Elizabeth Striegler (Bill) of Snowmass Village, CO. Papa / Great Papa will be missed by his three grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. 

Richard was a prominent business man in Worthington, MN while also filling the pulpit of area Presbyterian churches as a lay pastor.  He later moved to Crosslake, MN to plant a church in that small community.  Richard said goodbye to Minnesota when he answered the call to be the pastor of the Presbyterian church in Gallup, NM.  A few years later he felt the desire to move from Gallup which led him to Albuquerque and eventually Santa Fe, NM.

Richard was known for being kind and loving toward all people and animals.  If you got to spend time with Richard you received not only love, but a lot of wisdom.  He was an intelligent person who could fix anything with a paintbrush or a hammer.  He was known for his determination to succeed at everything and passed on his strong work ethic to both of his children.  A generous man, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it.

Richard loved being with his family, enjoyed hosting parties for his friends and one of his favorite activities, later in life, was volunteering at El Rancho De Las Golondrinas.  At the family’s request, please send memorials to El Rancho De Las Golondrinas or to the charity of your choice.  Please go to www.golondrinas.org and look for the support tab.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held at El Rancho De Las Golondrinas, New Mexico September 12 at 10 am.
