Beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother Richard W. Garcia, passed away on August 9, 2018, lovingly surrounded by his children and grandchildren he was 78. He is preceded in death by his parents, Salvador and Celina Garcia, his wife Connie V. Garcia, his sons Richie and Raymond Garcia, daughter Christina Garcia, grandson Albert and great-grandson Dion, brother Raymond Garcia and brother-in-law Joe Valdez. He is survived by his children, Marcella Garcia (Mario), Juan (Olivia) Garcia, Joseph (Andrea) Garcia, grandchildren Crucita Romero (Omar), Rose and Dalbert, Sabrina and Sebastian, Jace and Aria, Brittany and Reyna, Jaymond, Jayden, Angel, Martina, David, Daryl and Hazel. Great grandchildren Jair, Adam, Domonic , Dionna, Hailey, Joe Jr., LaMont, Brianna, Josh, Leilani, and Serenity.
Also, sister-in-laws, Helen Garcia and Melita Valdez and nephew Joey Valdez and many many special nieces and nephews.
He was born in Dixon, New Mexico on February 7, 1940 and was the last of his 10 siblings to pass away. He was raised in Velarde, New Mexico and also Price, Utah for a short time.
He dedicated his life to the community and the land. Mr. Garcia begin his career as a laborer and worked up to be a self-employed general contractor for 40+ years. During this time, he developed his relationship with The Delancy St. Foundation where he dedicated his time to counsel and mentor the residents. He impacted countless lives that passed through Delancy.
He was a proud farmer and spent every season planting his favorite vegetables and green chile in his garden. He will be missed by so many but will remain forever in our hearts.

Public visitation will begin at 5:00 PM, Thursday, August 16, 2018, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM at the Rivera Family Funeral Home Chapel, Espanola, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018, 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Velarde, NM. Burial will follow at the Velarde Cemetery.
