Robert Antonio Guillen Sr., (Bob), devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed unexpectedly on December 31, 2018. Bob is survived by his wife Fabiola, his daughter Yvette Sanchez (Juan),his son Rob (Shannon), grandchildren Tomas, Uriah, Rafael, Joseph, Abraham, and Benjamin, and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother Maria Guillen Sanchez (Chuy) and brothers Marty Guillen and Mario Guillen.
Bob served with the USMC, then retired from the SFPD in 1991 as a Captain following 23 years of service. He was a life-long member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Santa Fe Elks (BPOE #460), Past State President, and was currently serving as a chairperson at the National Level for Government Relations, an active member of the American Legion Post #1, and the FOP. Bob was also a volunteer with AARP driver safety program and NM state arbitration Board.
Bob dedicated all of his adult life to volunteerism helping New Mexico. Bob loved traveling in the RV with Fabby, cooking inspired by his mother Chuy, Fishing, and inspiring others to never stop dreaming and to never give up.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Monday, January 7, 2019 at Rivera Family Kiva Chapel, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Monday evening.
The State Elks’s Ritual will be presented at 11:00 am Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, followed at 11:30 am with the Mass of Christian Burial. Fr. George Salazar will be the celebrant. Interment with full Military honors will follow at 1:30 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Martin Guillen, Matias Guillen, Miguel Guillen, Jason Guillen, Lee Guillen, Francine Guillen, Tomas Guillen, and Uriah Sanchez.
His family is requesting memorial contributions be offered in his name to the American Legion Post #1, 1601 Berry Ave, Santa Fe, NM 87505
