Robert (Bob) Apodaca, a unique and amazing friend to so many…passed from this life on November 13th, 2021, leaving an unforgettable memory with each of us who knew and loved him. His friendship and influence on all will be treasured forever and will be joyfully passed onto future generations.
Words cannot express the sadness and sense of loss felt by all of us whose lives he touched. He was known for his amazing smile, the love he had for all who crossed his path, the love shown for his wife of 56 years, and especially the exceptional care shown to her as she struggled at the end of her life. We will always hold dear the special relationships and love that he had with his children, grandchildren and great-grands, and how, even at the very end of his life he was still getting down on the floor to play with his great-grandkids. We will always treasure his interest in spiritual things, his kindness and gentleness, and the gratefulness that he had for the little things in life. His generosity, cheerful outlook even in hard times, how he was easy-going, his laughter and sense of humor, his love for good conversation, his beautiful gardens and how he enjoyed making them grow, and his ability to tell stories and bring them to life. He didn’t know a stranger, but made friends with all who crossed his path.
Bob was born in Bernalillo, NM on June 5, 1927 to his parents, Antonio Columbo and Fedelina Apodaca and is preceded in death by his wife Lillian, his son Bobby, and his six siblings: Joe, Luis, Arthur, Lawrence, Aniseta and Margaret.
He was married to his wife, Lillian, on July 22, 1963 in Los Alamos and, one year later, their twins, Bobby and Paul were born. Bob enjoyed providing for the family as he worked at the Los Alamos Labs through the years, and many happy memories were made as he coached baseball and was involved with various activities through the years. Bob and Lillian will always be treasured for the interest and involvement they had as Bobby and Paul got married and had families of their own.
Bob is survived by his son, Paul (Sandra) of Texas (granddaughters Jade and Kellie), his daughter-in-law Susan, grandsons Jonathan (Kendra) (great grandaughters Hadassah and Dellah), Nathan (Casey), Anthony, and granddaughters Leanna Jones (Christian) (great grandson Toviah), Krysta, and Renee, all of Colorado. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marcie and Jim Hutton, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
We are thankful to God to have had the privilege of walking through life with Bob, and to be able to celebrate such a unique and wonderful friend to all.
