Robert Chase Hill, May 10, 1928 ~ February 13, 2018
Robert, (Bob) was a native of Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Kansas City public schools. Upon graduation from high school, he entered the University of Kansas, studying a liberal arts curriculum. He earned his varsity K for two years as a member of the KU track team and as a member of the KU Mile Relay Team.
Bob entered Northwestern University his junior year. He was accepted as an intern by Salomon Brothers, a major New York stock exchange bond firm. Following graduation from Northwestern’s School of Business, he was hired by Salomon as an institutional bond salesman. He was also a member of Chancel Choir at the First Methodist Church of Evanston, Illinois. He entered the army as an enlisted man in the Korean War, receiving a commission and serving as Battery Commander, Battery D, 99th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion, 20th Artillery Group. Upon release of active duty, Bob rejoined Salomon Brothers in New York City. He was a member of the Chancel Choir of Riverside Church.
In 1960 Bob became Financial Vice President of Southwestern Investment Company which was acquired by Beatrice Foods. He joined A. G. Edwards & Sons as Vice President and Branch Manager in 1975. In 1989 he was involved in opening the Santa Fe office for Edwards. When Edwards was acquired by another firm, Bob joined Morgan Stanley, Smith Barney as Vice President and Financial Advisor, and retired May 31, 2014.
An avid sportsman, Bob loved hiking, mountain climbing, skiing and scuba diving. His greatest joy was taking his son, Rob, on business and ski trips in the US and Europe. Rob passed away in 2010 at the age of 40 of cancer.
A Mason and Shriner, he was a past Hospice volunteer, a member of Santa Fe Men’s Camerata and The Church of the Holy Faith where he served as an usher.
Bob is survived by a goddaughter, Robin Rupe, an extended family of David, Angel, Carly, and Cason Christian, and many friends among whom are Mary Bush, Rudy Robinson, Campbell Martin, Rose Vigil, and his beloved miniature Schnauzer, Chase. His services will be held at Holy Faith Episcopal Church on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10:00am.
