Robert R. Coca, 88, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024 surrounded by loving family.
Robert was born on October 12, 1936 in Taos, NM to Albino and Donelia Coca. He was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force as a S.S.G.T. until honorably discharged on July 12, 1958. A vital community member, Robert owned and operated Rio Grande Ace Hardware for 25 years before retiring and passing the family business to his sons. A rancher at heart, he enjoyed working his alfalfa fields each season and supported the management of the acequias. He also loved spending time in the mountains either hunting or fishing with his family and friends. Robert was devoted to his family and will always be remembered for his generous spirit and strength of character.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Albino and Donelia Coca; and brother, Willie E. Coca.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Cleo; his four children, Dennis (Barbara) Coca, Grace Coca, Stephanie (Paul) Chavez, and Robert Coca, Jr.; brother Arthur (Binnie) Coca; his nine grandchildren, Victoria, James, Dominic, Alisha, Abriana, Marisa, Paige, Angelina, and Alexa; and his great-granddaughters Neveah, Channing, Layla, and Sierra.
Pallbearers are Dominic Chavez, James Coca, Tobias Mondragon, Santiago Gallegos, Johnny Coca, and Steve Vigil.
A rosary for his heavenly repose will be held on October 31, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at San Francisco de Asis Church in Ranchos de Taos.
A burial mass will be held on October 31, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at San Francisco de Asis Church in Ranchos de Taos with a celebration of life to follow at the Sagebrush Inn.
Interment services for the family will be held on November 1, 2024 at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
