Robert L. Martinez

d. December 18, 2015

Robert L. Martinez, 58, of Taos passed away unexpectedly on December 18, 2015. Those who knew our loved one knew that he was kind hearted man who loved his family with all he had. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether you met him through his work at Taos Schools cafeteria, Chile Line or the Ancianos Senior Program, he always wanted to make sure that everyone had plenty to eat and accepted anyone he came into contact with without judgement. Though he was a man of few words, he always had such a calming, loving, welcoming presence about him that made people feel at ease. He was a jokester, magician, avid fisherman, swimmer and diver who loved his Denver Broncos. Robert loved his wife, daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all other family members and friends so much that we all knew that no matter what we needed he would be there for us. He is preceded in death by his parents Demosthenes ‘Mote’ Martinez and Marcelina ‘Nina’ Chacon-Martinez, brothers and sister, Antonio ‘Joe’, Ray, Eli, John and Emelia ‘Amy’ Martinez and father-in-law Leroy ‘Chuco’ Montoya. He is survived by his wife, Francine Martinez, daughters, Estrellita ‘Star’ (Hector) Pacheco, Desiree, Cassandra and Layla Martinez, grandchildren, Hector Jr., Ricky (Micaela ‘MK’), Eric Pacheco and Alexi Duran, great grandchildren, Giovanni and Liana Pacheco, mother-in-law, Natalie ‘Nat’ Montoya, sister-in-law, Theresa (Donald) Sanchez, Godchildren, Francine Rivali, Jerry Martinez and Elizaria, sisters, Valerie Chavez (Gilbert), Priscilla “Kika” Barros (Jose) and Kathleen “Kathy” Martinez, brother, Martin Martinez (Eleanor), numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at 12 noon at Rivera Chapel. The Martinez family would like to express their appreciation to his family, his boss, Mike Trujillo, co-workers, friends and clients, Pastor Mithell, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish and Rivera Funeral Home.
