Robert Lockhart

December 15, 1930 — August 25, 2022

Robert “Ed” Lockhart passed away on August 25, 2022 at home with family by his side. He lived a full life and died from natural causes. He was born in Altus, Oklahoma on December 15, 1930 to his parents Robert and Maxine Lockhart. His grandfather was a superintendent of schools in Blair County, Oklahoma. Both his parents were college professors.

He was a graduate of New Mexico State University with a degree in business administration. He

completed three years of graduate school at Southwestern School of Banking at Southern Methodist University. He was a banker for 30 years and retired as Senior Vice President from First Interstate Bank, now known as Wells Fargo.

He served in the US Army after graduating from NMSU. He also served as treasurer of the New Mexico Bankers Association.

He was twice named “Boss of the Year” by the American Business Women’s Association. He was a former director of the Santa Fe United Fund and was past president of the Bank Administration Institute, Rio Grande Chapter.

He was an avid squash player and won a national double’s competitions in his age group in 2000. He was a member of the Kiva Club and was very fond of his buddies.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Terry, his sons, Bill and Mike Lockhart, and his step-children Robert Ruiz and wife Annette, Renee Chavez and husband Art Chavez and Raeanne Sandoval. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Henry Lockhart, Jarrod, Nicholas and Miranda Ruiz, Kyle Chavez and Joel and Jeremy Sandoval.

At Ed’s request, his remains were cremated and private services for family will be held at a later date.
