Robert M. Gonzales, age 70, passed away on August 24, 2017 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was born in Wagon Mound, New Mexico.
He is preceded in death by his parents Antonio Gonzales and Aurora Encinias, sister Patricia Montoya, and infant sister Frances Gonzales.
He is survived by his daughters Rebecca Roybal, Monica Rael and Jennifer Gonzales-Martinez (Eric), grandchildren Camille Baca (Marc), Daniel Rael, Robert Gonzales, Ramon Roybal, Vanessa Gonzales, Grance Gonzales, and Richard Gonzales, brothers Michael Gonzales (Ramona), Joseph Gonzales (Priscilla) and Lawrence Gonzales, sisters Rose Vigil (Juan), Frances Ortiz (Andy), Cathy Pullins (Nate), Theresa Elliot (Ron), and Clara Wright (Tracey), and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Gonzales proudly served his country in the U.S. Army serving two tours in Vietnam. Mr. Gonzales was honorably discharged in 1968 with the rank of Specialist 4. After his service in the Army, Mr. Gonzales worked for the City of Santa Fe and later worked at St. Vincent Hospital where he retired from. In recent years he performed volunteer work for the Senior Division of the City of Santa Fe.
Mr. Gonzales enjoyed going fishing in his younger years and he like to work. He made friends easily due to his humorous style and joking manner. Mr. Gonzales will be greatly missed by family and friends.
The Honorary Pallbearers are Daniel Rael, Robert Gonzales, and Ramon Roybal.
A viewing will be held at the Rivera Family Funeral Home Kiva Chapel of Light on August 29th from 6:00 to 7:00pm, with the reciting of Rosary starting at 7:00pm. The Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 10:00am at the Shrine of Lady of Guadalulpe in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:15am.
