Roberto E. Martinez

Roberto E. Martinez, age 93, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away on December 4, 2014. He was born in October of 1921, in Chimayo, NM to Celestina and Apolonio Martinez. He married Alice Sandoval on December 19, 1943. He is preceded in death by his parents; Apolonio and Celestina Martinez, wife; Alice Martinez, brothers; Abad, Sigfredo and Vences Martinez, sister; Fabiola Vigil, grandson; Francisco Martinez, great granddaughter; Daisy Garza. He is survived by his son; Robert Martinez of Albuquerque, NM and daughter; Berlina Ramirez also of Albuquerque, NM, sons; Clyde (Della) Martinez of Ranchitos, Michael (Sandra) Martinez, Tommy Martinez, Anthony (Lynette) Martinez of Cordova, NM. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 4 great, great grandchildren. Mr. Martinez enlisted in the U.S. Army in August 7, 1942 and was discharged on December 22, 1945, with the following honors and medals: Good conduct, Victory Medal, Sharp Shooter, American Theater, Asiatic Pacific Theater. A public visitation took place on Wednesday, December 10, 2014. A rosary was recited at Rivera Family Funeral Home in Espanola, NM. Mass of Christian Burial took place on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, NM. A reception followed at the Arbolera Senior Center. Interment took place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers were: Tanisha, Joey, Michael Jr. Jesus, Antonio and Teresita.
