It is with great sadness that the family of Robert J. Ortiz announce his passing at the age of 82 on January 13, 2022, surrounded by family. Robert was born October 9, 1939, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He served in the National Guard, and he married Josie Sedillo 63 years ago on November 29, 1958. They moved to Los Alamos in 1967 when Robert started working for Los Alamos County. He retired in 1992 as a Supervisor for Los Alamos County Roads and Streets Department. Robert was a devoted Catholic and a long-time parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, he was a gentle soul and a great role model for his children, he was well respected in the community and will be greatly missed. Robert was preceded in death by his father Jose Dolorez Ortiz, his mother Leocadia Ortiz, sisters Erlinda Sanchez, Virginia Ortiz, Delia Marquez, Angie Barela, his brother Rudy Ortiz, sister-in law Carmen Sedillo and grand-daughter Sarah Stump.
Robert is survived by the love of his life Josie Ortiz and their seven children, Robert (Sandra), Ruben (Stephanie), Ralph, Pat (Lynn), Fred (Diane), Anthony, and Amy (John) Danforth Robert is also survived by his sister Rosina Medrano, brothers Ramon (Susan) Ortiz, Benny (Mary) Ortiz, brothers-in-law John Sanchez, and Tony Barela and sister-in-law Mary Lou Sedillo and Helen Ortiz, thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
A Rosary will take place on Monday, January 24, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Los Alamos. New Mexico. Interment will be at Rosario Cemetery, Santa Fe New Mexico.
