Robert V. Lancaster age 95, a resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico passed away May 25, 2016. He was born in New Castle, Delaware to Pearl G. and Vaughan C. Lancaster and married Serena W. Lancaster (Nee Weggenman), June 15, 1942 in Wilmington, Delaware.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents Vaughan and Pearl Lancaster, son Peter L. Lancaster and wife Serena W. Lancaster. He is survived by his daughter Deirdre Densmore (Owen), son Kevin Lancaster, daughters Meghan Lancaster and Rue Boykin (Dan), grandson’s Timothy Densmore (Meribeth) and Gillian Densmore, and great-grandsons Liam and Quinn Densmore.
Robert worked on the Manhattan Project, received an M.A. from the University of Delaware, a Divinity degree from the Philadelphia Divinity School and a PhD from Syracuse University. He was an Episcopal Priest; a Vicar of Eastern W.A. (1955 – 1960), a Professor of English at the State University of New York at Morrisville, a Mason and a member of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe. He was known for his beautiful singing voice, was an avid reader, book collector and photographer. He enjoyed traveling, made several trips to Europe and especially loved Italy.
A Rosary will be recited Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe, N.M.
