Rodolfo A. Valdez

Rodolfo A. Valdez age 80 of Fairview, passed away on November 22, 2007. He was born on October 29, 1927 in Raton New Mexico. He graduated in 1945 from Raton High School and earned his Bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of New Mexico in 1950. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Naval Reserves. In partnership with his brother Reinaldo M. Valdez, he ran an accounting business for over 55 years in Espanola. He was instrumental in forming the Santa Cruz Church Parish Council and the Espanola Little League. He was a past member of The Knights of Columbus, the Kiwanis Club, and served on the Rio Arriba County 4-H Fair Board. He had a long and blessed marriage to Angelina Rodriguez Valdez, who he married in 1951 and who preceded him in death in 1989. He was also preceded in death by his parents Alejandro and Francesquita Valdez, brother Reinaldo M. Valdez and sister Amelia Trujillo. He is survived by his children Elena Valdez Matthews of Las Cruces and Carlos Valdez of Los Alamos, and granddaughter Monica O'Neal and husband Kevin O'Neal of Guthrie, Oklahoma. He was recently blessed with the arrival of great granddaughter Savannah Rhea O'Neal. He is also survived by brother Arthur L. Valdez of Las Cruces, and many loving and close relatives and friends. Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Monday, November 26th at 7:00 pm at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the same church. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. The Rivera Family of Block-Salazar Mortuary, Espanola, NM.
