Ronald James Sorrow, a resident of Taos passed away on October 4, 2024, at the age of 88.
Ronald was born to William and Mary Sorrow in Saint Jo, Texas. He grew up with his three siblings Dwayne, Larry and Linda. He left Texas along side his brother and father to work in the oil fields in Cuba New Mexico.
Ronald absolutely enjoyed baseball. He played it, he watched it and trained to someday enter the big leagues. As luck would have it Ronald was found to have an irregular heartbeat. He lost his dream or becoming a New York Yankee. It was a well-known fact that Ronald loved the NY Yankees and hated the Boston Red Sox.
In 1990 Ronald met his life partner, Sarah Martinez. Together they embarked on a wonderful journey. Sarah says she found him “interesting” He had a serious personality and was quite reserved. Everyone who knew Ronald knew that Sarah was queen. He was devoted to her and as long as she was happy, he was too. Sarahs happiness was paramount. She was truly the love of his life.
Ronald was kind and generous. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He never passed up an opportunity to help someone. He always seemed to find an appropriate nickname for everyone who came into his life. The nicknames were fun and full of endearment.
Ronald was an early riser and climbed the hills of Taos Canyon every day. He loved the mountains and created new and exciting paths for his hiking adventures.
He loved rocks. He collected rocks and created many sculptures and different things. To the end Ronald and Sarah exchanged beautiful and unique rocks they found on their day’s journeys.
Ronald leaves behind his true love Sarah Martinez, three sons, Kevin (Eileen), Ron, and Wayland, his brother Larry and his sister Linda, his stepchildren Lelah and John, 12 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
