Rosaleen J. Poole, age 85, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 in Taos, NM. She was the daughter of the late Exie Mae Johnson and Joseph Holliday Jenerette, born in 1928 in Mullins, South Carolina. She attended Winthrop College. She was active in the Mullins First Baptist Church, Girl Scout Troop Leader, Boy Scout Troop Leader, youngest President of the Mullins Garden Club, and long standing member of the Womens Club of Mullins. She was one of a handful of women farmers in South Carolina, and in her retirement years she was well known as the The Wedding Cake Lady with Rosaleens of Charleston.
Mrs. Poole was preceded in death by her first husband, Harvey Haltiwanger Poole, Sr., son, Harvey H. Poole, Jr., daughter, Sarah Ellen Poole and sister, Dorothy Jenerette McAbee. Mrs. Poole is survived by her two daughters, Dierdre Poole of Murrells Inlet, S.C. and Amanda Beeson Lora and husband, Peter Lora of Taos, New Mexico. Grandchildren are Burke Snipes of Summerville, S.C., Brad Snipes of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Jared Poole of Denver, Colorado, Olivia and Isabel Newton of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Melanie Lora Meltzer of Los Angeles, California, Nina Lora of New York, N.Y. and Ashley Lora of Nashville, Tenn. There are three great-grandchildren Carson Snipes, Henrick Meltzer and Luciana Meltzer.
Mrs. Poole will be buried in Cedardale Cemetery with Harvey H. Poole, Sr. Meares. Funeral Services in Mullins, South Carolina and Rivera Funeral Home in Taos, New Mexico are handling the arrangements.
