Rosalie Elvida Rivera Anton

Rosalie Elvida Rivera Anton December 21, 1931 – March 31, 2017 Rosalie Elvida Rivera Anton passed away March 31, 2017 at Kingston Residence in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She was born in Wagon Mound, New Mexico to Ricardo Rivera and Ana Garcia Rivera. She married George James Anton in Santa Fe in 1966. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; in-laws James and Maria (Ruth) Romero Anton; sister, Theresa Wallace; nephews, Richard and Bill Borgel; in-laws Evelyn (Edwin) Morris, Stella (Bill) Gregory, and Anita (Doroteo) Romero. She is survived by her sister, Cecilia D. Rivera of Santa Fe, sister in law Frances (John) Ramirez, nieces Patricia Rivera Wallace of Santa Fe, Deborah Wallace Young (Wesley Young) of Peralta NM, and Cheryl Nelson of Waben MA; and many other nieces/nephews and extended relatives. Rosalie graduated from Las Vegas H.S. and from NM Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico with a degree in accounting. She accepted a position with the New Mexico Health, Environment and Welfare Department in Santa Fe and began her new job on her birthday in 1953. She left the HEWD as a Division Director in 1973 and moved to Tucson, Arizona with her beloved husband, George, where he worked for Kitt Peak National Observatory. She worked as an accountant in Tucson for St. Elizabeth’s Health Center. Rosalie enjoyed sports, camping, boating, fishing and old Westerns. She told wonderful stories about growing up in Wagon Mound and Las Vegas. She laughed often, told great jokes, made friends easily and was a great conversationalist. She is greatly missed by her nieces Patricia Wallace, Deborah Wallace Young, and Cheryl Nelson. We would like to thank all the people who took care of Rosalie at Kingston Residence, Ambercare Hospice and Dr. Thron. We are deeply grateful to her friends in Tucson, Carol and John Errico and Cynthia and Edward Rutherford. A private family service has been held at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
