Rosalinda Avila Romero (83) of Albuquerque was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024. Rosalinda, or Rosie, as she was endearingly called, was born in Mercedes, Texas on January 30th, 1940 and was a long-time resident of Albuquerque. She was married to her husband, Antonio, on January 25th, 1964. They established their household and raised their three children in Santa Fe, prior to relocating to Albuquerque in 1986. Shortly after that, Rosalinda retired from US West (previously Mountain Bell) after a long and successful career, having worked in both Albuquerque and Santa Fe offices. She enjoyed many years after she retired spending time with her family and traveling around the US. She leaves behind her loving husband of nearly 60 years – Antonio S. Romero; her sister - Bertha Avila of Rhode Island; her two children - Maria Romero (Charley) of Albuquerque and R. Xavier Romero (Heather) of San Antonio TX; her grandchildren - Marissa Tapia (Jason) of Rio Rancho, Marcos Lujan of Santa Fe, Shawntel Romero (Guillermo) of Albuquerque, Keann Romero of San Antonio TX, Brianna Blea (Roberto) of Albuquerque, Xavier Romero of San Antonio TX, Michael Romero (Pearl) of Albuquerque; and Grayson Romero of San Antonio TX; and many great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son - Mike A. Romero; and siblings - Diana Alonso, Bartolo Avila Jr., and John Avila. Rosie was known for her personal strength and tenacity as well as the compassion and love that she showed to everyone who knew her. She was passionate about her many creative pursuits and was faithfully involved with the many churches and missions of which she was a member throughout her lifetime. Not only will she be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched, but she will also serve as an inspiration for generations to come. Despite the difficulty we endure in saying goodbye, we all take comfort knowing that she is reunited with everyone that has gone before her - sharing in the glory of her Lord and Savior. We also know that our farewell is only temporary - that one day we will again see her smile, hear her laugh, and feel her warm embrace. Memorial services are planned for Saturday, February 3rd @ 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church of West Albuquerque, 6400 Golf Course Rd NW Albuquerque NM 87120. Refreshments will be served after the service. Burial is scheduled on Monday, February 5th, at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
