Rosalind Martinez

Rosalind R. Martinez, 84 a resident of Ohkay Owingeh, formally of Dulce, New Mexico passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

Rosalind (Rose) was born to Lindo and Bessie Vigil in Dulce, New Mexico. She married Vicente Martinez of Ohkay Owingeh.

Rosalind is preceded in death by her loving husband Vicenti Martinez, son Lenny, daughter Yvonne Martinez and grandson Garrett J. Abeyta all of Ohkay Owingeh; parents Lindo and Bessie Vigil of Dulce, New Mexico; in laws Ismael and Tonita Martinez of Ohkay Owingeh; brothers Robert, Calvin, Eldred and Howard; sisters Anna, Aurelia, Agnes, Nancy and Velva Jean all of Dulce, New Mexico.

Rose is survived by her last remaining brother Larry Panzy of Dulce, New Mexico and her children Vince Martinez (Dulce), Shereen, Lemuel (Rexine), Bobbiann, Francis and Lindbert (Mya) all of Ohkay Owingeh.

Rosalind had 28 grand children and 36 great grandchildren.

Rosalind had many passions in life which included hunting, traveling, Bingo, po-wows, casino, and spending time with her grandchildren. More than anything she loved attending softball and baseball games, where she would be at the back stop cheering on her grandsons and granddaughters. She would attend every game she could, even all the players on the team called her “Grandma” or “Manager”. In fact, she did sponsor a few of the teams when they entered tournaments. She always went out of her way to attend family functions, weddings, graduations, baptisms, birthdays. Whatever the occasion she was there giving hugs.

Rosalind had the biggest heart and great sense of humor. Rosa gave the biggest hugs telling you      “I love you”. She loved her family near and far unconditionally.

Rosalind will be deeply missed.
