Rose Barrera

Rose Barrera, 88, of Santa Fe, passed away Monday, June 21, 2021 in Santa Fe.  She was born October 24, 1932 in Marfa, Texas, the daughter of Enrique and Juanita Sanchez Pacheco.  She and Juan Barrera were married at St. John the Baptist Church in Roswell, NM on April 7, 1956.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Enrique and Juanita Pacheco, her husband Juan Barrera, a brother Fred Pacheco, and grandson Alex Griego.

Rose is survived by her daughter, Theresa Griego (Joseph); three sons; Louie Barrera (Patsy), Benny Barrera, and Vincent Barrera (Jennifer); Grandchildren, Adam Griego, Thomas, Jarrod & Amanda Barrera, Alex Barrera, and Brigitte Barrera; great grandchildren, Elijah and Evelyn Barrera and Jeremy Leaton.  Rose is also survived by her sister, Dolores Alvarado.

Rose will always be remembered for having cared for and nurturing her family and grandchildren.  She was an awesome cook and homemaker, not to mention one of the best Mothers ever.

The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe, where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 10:00 am.  Following this mass, interment will take place at Rosario Cemetery beside her husband Juan.  Pallbearers will include Louie Barrera, Bobby Alvarado, Danny Barrera, Johnny Martinez, Ray Barrera, and Tommy Silva
