Rosendo Serrano Sr., a resident of Los Ojos, entered into eternal life on Friday, March 7, 2025 at the age of 93. He was born in Las Nutrias, NM to Lucas and Carolina Serrano on August 3, 1931. He was preceded in death by his parents (whom he lost as a child), his grandparents Jose Leon and Juanita Ulibarri, sister Emilianita Hernandez and his son Rosendo Serrano Jr. Rosendo is survived by his wife of 56 years, Angelina with whom he raised 4 children: Rosendo Jr, Yolanda Sanchez (Rod), Monica Burton (Albert), Anna Kerr (Caleb) and grandson Ruben Serrano whom he helped raise. 11 grandchildren: Thalia, Felize, Benicio, Hannah (Corey), Owen, Wade, Olivia, Opal, Julian, Foster and two great grandchildren, Henry and Colin.
Rosendo lived a full life dedicated to hard work (especially on his ranch in Las Nutrias), faith, and instilling values and tradition in his family. He proudly served his country in the U.S Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He was a man of strength and conviction. He mentored many and influenced many lives, lent a hardworking hand to many and made a lasting impact on every life he touched with his strong and compassionate spirit. Rosendo had a fitting dicho for most of life’s situations. He took great pleasure in burlando con todos and making people laugh. His life was a full life, well lived. He died as he lived: surrounded by family who cared for him, prayed with him, and shared memories of his adventures, cuentos, adivinanzas and many laughs. He will be laid to rest in Las Nutrias, where his heart has always been.
Please join us in ushering him into a renewed life in Christ.
