Rose Salazar, 90, a resident of San Pedro surrounded by her loving family, was called home by her creator on December 1, 2019. Rose was born on April 8, 1929 in Vallecitos, NM to the late Eligio and Estefanita DeVargas.
Rose was a very strong, faithful woman. She instilled in her family the value of hard work, honesty and respect. She was extremely devoted to her family during her lifetime and at the time of her illness, her children and grandchildren responded with the same love and devotion providing for her care and comfort.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents; her husband Ben J. Salazar; brother Isais DeVargas; sisters Eppie Larabell, Esther Lopez, Esmiria Lucero, and Evangeline Herrera; Brothers-in-law Earl Larabell, Jerome Trujillo, Sam Herrera; and beloved cousin Gail Gallegos.
Rose is survived by her daughters Patricia and husband Jose “Coco” Archuleta, Rebecca and husband Earl Salazar; and son Eliud and wife Katherine Salazar. Her Grandchildren Alonso Archuleta, Milena Archuleta, Zaqueo Salazar and wife Sarah, Andres Salazar, and Lupita Salazar; her Great-Grandson, her “baby” Elias Salazar. Her sisters Elva Trujillo and Geraldine Sandoval; Brothers-In-Law Levi Lopez, and Sibi Lucero.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren whom lovingly cared for her; honorary pallbearers will be Arturo DeVargas; Gary, Felix, and Gailann Gallegos
A rosary will be held on Thursday December 5, 2019 at 7pm at the Rivera Family Funeral Home in Espanola, a mass of Catholic burial will be held December 6, 2019 at 10am at Holy Cross Church in Santa Cruz with internment to follow at The Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Rose’s caregivers and the Los Alamos Home Health and Hospice team for their support during this time.
