Ruben Vigil

Ruben Vigil passed away peacefully at his home on February 24, 2025, at age 80, surrounded by his loving family. Ruben was born February 11, 1945, in Logan, New Mexico, a small ranching town near Tucumcari. He attended Logan School and after graduating from Logan High School he moved to Santa Fe to be close to his sister Tillie Garcia and brother Tony Vigil. Ruben worked at the New Mexico Highway Department for 5 years. Then he went to work for PNM and worked there until he retired in 2003. When the City of Santa Fe took over the water company Ruben went back to work for the City of Santa Fe Water Department. He worked for the city for another 6 years and retired again at the age of 62.
Ruben served in the National Gard for 6 years. Ruben was a member of Santa Maria Catholic Community, the Union Protective, Lions Club International and the Knights of Columbus. Ruben Valued volunteering. A value he passed on to his Wife, Son, Granddaughter and Grandson.
He is preceded in death by his parents Antonio Vigil and Adelina (Lina) Vigil, sisters Tillie Garcia and Corina Armijo, brother Natividad Antonio (Tony) Vigil, Sister-in-Laws Mela Vigil, Alice Pino, Socorro Ortiz, Brother-in-Law Nick Pino Jr., Father and Mother-in-Law Nicolas and Jesusita Pino.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Rita Pino Vigil, son Ruben Daniel Vigil, grandchildren Danielle Vigil, Ryan Vigil and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be on March 12, 2025, at Santa Maria Catholic Church. The rosary will be held at 09:30 a.m. There will be a mass following the rosary. Interment will follow the mass at Rosario Cemetery.
