Ruben Orlando Vigil, 89, of Taos left this earth a happy and well loved husband, father, grandfather and friend on April 03, 2007. Ruben served in Europe during World War II and was injured. He returned to New Mexico and received a B.A. He worked in the Taos Post Office for over twenty years, retiring as Postmaster in 1971. He was the commander of the Taos DAV Chapter for 50 years and a life long Kiwanian. Ruben's favorite activities were gardening and fishing. He is preceded in death by his sons, Orlando Vigil, Bert and Stanley Witka. He is survived by his wife, Crucita Vigil, daughters, Yolanda Vigil-Henderson (Mark) of Nevada, Katie Vigil of Denver, grandchildren, Dawn Otero, Stanley Ruben Witka, Crucita Clinton (Mark), Meredith Amy Viola (Anthony), Joshua Vigil Daniel, great grandchildren, Jaime, Rudee and Casey Otero, Eryn Witka, Vanessa and Maya Clinton, brother, Fred Montoya, sister, Stella Pena and numerous other relatives and friends.
Rosary was recited on April 08, 2007. Funeral mass was held on April 09, 2007. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment was held at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
