Rudolf Doc Driskell, 75, passed away on August 23, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Ava, MO to James and Alice Driskell, one of 15 brothers and sisters. In his youth, the family moved around the west working at different jobs. Doc got his nickname while in California working at barrel manufacturing in the shipping docks. He married Wilma and settled in Taos to raise his family. After years in the logging industry, he changed careers to automotive mechanics when his children started school. Doc and his father in law, Hacel Holmes purchased Chevron Oil Station in the center of Taos in 1966, which they operated until 1982. In 1988 he started Docs Automotive with his son, Weldon. He is survived by his beloved wife, Wilma, son, Russell and his wife, Bonnie, son, Jamie, and his wife, Carmen, son, Weldon, and his wife, Yvett, the joys of his life, his grandchildren, Jennifer, Justin, Jalyssa, Jillian and Jerrika. He is also survived by his mother in law, Grandma Holmes, four brothers, three sisters and many other relatives and dear friends. Funeral service was held August 26, 2009 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Taos with interment following at the Sierra Vista Cemetery. Reception will follow interment at the Taos Volunteer Fire Department.
