Rudy Montano

Our beloved Rudy was called to be with our lord on May 05, 2023. Rudy’s greatest joys was being a father, grandfather, husband, uncle, and watching his Dallas Cowboys. Rudy was born in Santa Fe, NM on June 2nd 1943 to Jose Ricardo Montano and Maria Macedonia Rubio. He was raised in Santa Fe and played basketball for most of his youth and graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1962. Rudy enjoyed playing pool, watching westerns, cooking, and family gatherings.

When Rudy was in his mid-twenties he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and raised his family there. He worked for Coors Brewing Company and for the Desert Inn. Upon his return to Santa Fe in 1994 he worked as a bartender at the American Legion and Santa Fe Civic Housing Authority. While bartending he met the love his life Yvonne Martinez- Montano and were married for 28 years.

He is survived by his wife Yvonne Martinez- Montano, children Rudy Roy, (Gina), Roger, Linda, and Aurelia Sedillo (Tim); grandchildren Amber, Marie, Veronica, Adan, Sarah, Maddie, Maria, Neiko, Enrique, and Ramon; great grandchildren Rosalyn, Killian, Katana, Malinea; sister Frances Carrillo and brother-in-law Benny Sanchez; along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings. 

The family wants to express their gratitude and sincere appreciation for Christus St. Vincent’s Hospital for their care and support they showed to Rudy and Yvonne during his short illness. No words could express how much we appreciate all of you.

Services for Rudy will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in the Santuario Friday, June 2nd 2023. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm, with a rosary at 1:00 pm, funeral mass 1:30 pm with burial to follow. A reception for celebration of life will be held at The American Legion after burial 1601 Berry Avenue in Santa Fe, NM. The family has entrusted our loved one with Rivera Funeral Home.
