Russellen Marie Yount, 84, January 6, 1931 – January 5, 2016. Russellen, known to most of her friends and family as “Rusty”, was born to Ruby S. (Sanchez) Payne and Russell Payne on January 6, 1931 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She was a graduate of Loretto Academy. Rusty and her husband, Dean Yount (deceased February, 2013) were married on July 1, 1949, in Santa Fe where they raised their four children. She was a committed Christian, worshipping most recently at the City of Faith Christian Fellowship.
Rusty was a skilled garment seamstress and enthusiastic square dancer in her younger life. Later, boating, china painting, and quilting were added to her passions. Rusty loved traveling with her husband in their motor home and had many wonderful adventures in it, traveling to see friends and family around the country.
Rusty is survived by her children: Valerie Lawshe (Eddie), Deb Martinez (Horace), David Yount, and Tom Yount (Wendy); grandchildren: Jeffery Lawshe (Carrie) and Eric Lawshe (Rachel), Jennifer Jones, Michael Martinez (Holly), Kelly Griego (Eric), Courtney Campbell, Joshua Yount (Lula), Linda Gallegos, Grace Yount, Hope Van Beek (Austin), Joy Yount, and Glory Yount. She is also survived by many great grandchildren.
In her final hours she said, “I’ve had a wonderful life!” and smiled happily. Indeed, she did have a full and happy life. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
The family would like to express sincere love and gratitude to her many caregivers over the last year and to the staff at Ambercare and Elite Home Health. Each of you gave love, kindness and support every day. Thank you.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
