Ruth Meharg of Chandler, Arizona passed away September 2nd at her son’s home in Taos, New Mexico, she was 3 days shy of her 99th birthday. Born in Irvington, New Jersey, Ruth and her family lived mainly in New Jersey, Rhode Island and South Carolina while she was growing up. Ruth was trained classically on the piano and played beautifully. Ruth was married to William G Meharg, and they raised their family in the township of Maplewood, New Jersey where they lived close to 50 years. They loved Maplewood and many of the residents who resided there. Ruth is preceded in death by her mother and father, Mabel (a Daughter of the American Revolution) Neil Sheldon Bennett, many aunts and uncles, her husband William G. Meharg (passed 2003) and many friends. She was the last woman standing of her generation of family and friends. She leaves behind her son Glenn Meharg and his spouse Sandi Curto, her son Neil Meharg and her daughter in law Carrie Meharg, her granddaughter Kendal Kohler and Kendal’s husband Kai and her great granddaughter Virginia Ruth Kohler.
The family requests if you so choose to make a small donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital which was her favorite charity.
Ruth will be missed by her sons and their families along with the many friends she made along the way in life. Fly on our sweet Angel!
