Sally Bieler Chamberlin passed away peacefully in her home on October 15, 2020, surrounded by her three children and one daughter-in-law. She is survived by her brother, Barrie H. Bieler; her three children, David Chamberlin, Linda Chamberlin, and Alan Chamberlin; and her three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter S. Chamberlin.
Sally grew up in southern California where she attended Anoakia High School and graduated from Scripps College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1950. She enjoyed skiing, dancing, and swimming, including water ballet. In 1953 she married Walter Chamberlin and joined him in caving and kayaking adventures, notably on the Colorado River through Glen Canyon (now submerged by Lake Powell). With the arrival of their first child in 1956, Sally focused on raising children and supporting her husband. She had a strong moral compass; and she endowed her children with love and respect for nature, art, and music. She loved the outdoors, gardening, and her daily walks. She was creative, resourceful, and never wasteful. She will always be remembered as one who was kind, thoughtful, and considerate of others, and willing to put her own desires behind those of her family and others.
