Samantha Whittington Salazar, age 41, has left us to return to her heavenly home after severe suffering for a year and a half. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Samantha was loved by all who knew her, a much-beloved wife, stepmother, daughter and daughter-in-law, sister, aunt, niece, and cousin. She made friends everywhere she went. She leaves behind her Babe-husband Joseph Salazar, stepson Josiah Salazar, stepdaughter Jocelyn Salazar, her parents Sam and Irma Whittington, her sisters Nadean and Andrea Whittington, and her grandmother Pauline Candee, in-law-parents Abel and Lupe Salazar, brother-in-law Jason Salazar (Nicole), sister-in-law Vanesa, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts Elaine Varela (Melvin), Godparents Brenda Duran (Eddie Roy), AnnaBelle Herrera (Fred), Rosie Quintana, uncles Steve Duran, James Whittington (Susan), cousins, friends, her goddaughter Ravyn Padilla, lastly, Harley (her Yorkie). She was predeceased by her paternal great-grandparents Pablo and Luz Martinez, paternal uncles Frank Whittington and Michael Quintana, grandmother-in-law Louise, maternal great-grandparents Prudencio and Ramona Quintana, maternal grandparents Joe and Elsie Lopez, Maternal Uncle Adrian Quintana, Maternal aunts Phyllis Duran, and Della Rougemont who passed away two days after Samantha. Samantha graduated from Pecos High School in 2000. After high school she attended the University of New Mexico and always worked in the medical field as an EMT and Medical Assistant. Samantha loved her family, her parents, sisters and her in-laws. Her mother-in-law was with her till the end. Samantha looked forward to her mother-in-law’s breakfast burritos every morning. She cherished her friends. She loved fishing, hunting, and shopping with her buddy, her dad. Samantha and her Dad could shop and shop, but never drop. She was definitely Daddy’s girl. Summers were spent fishing and spending lots of time in the great outdoors with her husband and kids, her parents, and in-laws. Hunting season was a must for her and her family. The outdoors brought her such joy! She was a great cook and loved baking with Jocelyn. She was a very organized woman and always planned ahead. She leaves behind the fishing plans she had made for her family and parents for July 9, 2023. She devoted her time to being a good parent to her stepchildren and instilled in them values that will serve them well. She made sure they followed the precepts of the Catholic faith, received their sacraments, and attended Sunday Mass and holy days of obligation. She was so proud of her stepchildren and getting to raise them. Her Catholic faith was everything to Samantha.
