Samuel Romero

December 23, 1936 — July 13, 2020

Samuel D. Romero, 83, from Chimayo died Monday July 13, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents; Mr. & Mrs. Armando Romero.

Samuel was a man of faith, a devout Catholic and lifelong member of the Holy Family Church in Chimayo. Samuel attended Mass every Sunday and served as an usher. He was a member of the Sagrada Familia and American Legion Post 65.

Samuel worked for the Los Alamos National Laboratory for 30 years as a custodial foremen. When he retired, he went on to work for the Española Public Schools for 10 years.

Samuel was a farmer and loved to sell his fresh produce; fruits and flowers at the Santa Fe Farmer’s Market. Samuel made many friends. He also loved going camping and fishing to El Valle with his wife Sofia.

Samuel is survived by his loving wife Sofia of 62 years. Special nephews and nieces; Dennis and Theresa Naranjo, Jim and Helen Vigil, Randy and Jeanette Vangalder. Sister-in-laws; Adelia Vigil and Isabel Naranjo. God children Merelene Montoya, Francine Rodriguez, Jeanette Vangalder and Jimmy Vigil.

Serving the family as Pallbearers; Dennis Naranjo, Jr., Michael Naranjo, James Naranjo, Dominic Sauer, Ben Naranjo and Benny Vigil.

Sofia Romero would like to extend special thanks to Dennis Naranjo, Se., Laura Ramos, the Santa Fe Care Team; Tracy Chrystal, Mary Ann and John. The Rivera Family Funeral Home (Theresa Westfall) for taking good care of Samuel.

Rosary will be recited on Monday July 20, 2020 10:20 A.M. Holy Family Catholic Church Chimayo, NM

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday July 20, 2020 11 A.M. Holy Family Catholic Church Chimayo, NM.

Interment on Monday July 20, 2020 2:30 P.M. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
