Seferino Fred Vigil

Seferino Fred Vigil, 73 a longtime resident of Santa Fe, was called home to the Lord on May 13, 2017. He was born to Seferino and Marianna (Ortega) Vigil, on June 15, 1943 in Pecos NM. He was a graduate of Pecos High School where he played for the Pecos basketball team. It was there he met the love of his life, Gloria. They were married for 56 years, and together they had two son’s. Fred moved his family to California where he started his career as a machinist at Rocketdyne. After a few years in California, Fred moved back to New Mexico and settled in Los Alamos. Fred was a prototype-machinist for the Los Alamos National Lab and retired after 34 years of service. He was an avid outdoors man, a skilled hunter nd angler and shared his passions with his son’s, grandchildren and family, and together they enjoyed many trips and adventures together. He enjoyed playing softball, basketball, table tennis, bowling and casino's, but his real love was being in the outdoors with his sons. Fred was a kind and generous man and was always there for his family and friends. He will be truly missed by all that knew him, and Heaven is fortunate to have him. He is survived by his wife, Gloria, Son, Ivan (wife) Kathleen, Son, Alan (wife) Cathleen, (Granddaughter) Jessica Valerio (husband) Jonathan, (Great Grandson) Adriano, (Grandson) Christopher Cody Vigil, (significant other) Tamara Olive and Family. (Brother) Jesus Vigil (wife) Viola, and family. He is proceeded in death by his Father, Seferino, (Mother) Marianna, Step-Mother Flora, Brothers, Ted and Ruben, and step brothers Sammy and Dennis. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on May 21, 2017 at Rivera Family Funeral at 6:00 p.m. Funeral mass will take place at St. Anne’s Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 22, 2017.
